Mohrenstraße, 10117 Berlin, Deutschland

The protest march marks the peak of a one-month event program, the BLM Month. Once again this year, the networking of existing initiatives and the call to action are to the fore: We want to link existing spaces, resources and contacts in order to organize together in our resistance and to become active and to stay active.

The protest march and events are part of a long-term local and transnational cooperation and the strengthening of common structures. The BLM month consists of film screenings, round tables, poetry events, city tours, parties, concerts, and workshops on various topics.

The demonstration starts at the underground station M*straße. Its racist name is associated with the Brandenburg-Prussian enslavement trade and is symbolic of the unwillingness to deal with racism in Germany. The invited speakers of the protest march not only highlight the various effects of racism in the past, but they also emphasize the current unequal power relations that reproduce racism again and again. It is our concern to always acknowledge that different forms of discrimination, as for example racism and sexism, are interwoven and produce specific exclusions.

The demo continues from M*straße via Friedrichstraße, Rudi-Dutschke-Straße, Oranienstraße and Kottbusser Tor via Skalitzerstraße and Wienerstraße to Spreewaldplatz. From about 7:00 pm onwards there will be live music by CamufingoBSMG and Shelly Phillips, poetry and more speeches.

The Black Lives Matter month in Berlin stands with its program of events and the protest march for a lasting change of our society and against the concealment of racism. Silence, too, is violence.
