It would be a privilege to represent Americans living abroad at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte next September. My video explains why.
Today is the national holiday to honor the legacy of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Black expats and American around the world can honor the legacy of Dr. King by participating in Democrats Abroad Day of Service opportunities. Find out what is happening near you by contacting your local Democrats Abroad chapter.
If you live in the Stockholm, Sweden region you can join Democrats Abroad Sweden for two service days to celebrate King’s legacy:
Dates: 20-21 January 2010
Time: 9.30-12.30 (meet location at 9.15)
Place: Stadmissonen Bostället at Högbergsgatan 51, Stockholm
# of volunteers requested each day: 10-12
RSVP to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Keeping in line with President Obama’s Call to Service and a National Service Day on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, the Democrats Abroad Sweden Stockholm Chapter will perform our day of service on Stockholm’s south side.
Over two days we will help the residents of the Stadmissonen Bostället at Högbergsgatan 51, who need help “renovating” a room on the 6th floor. Painting will be involved so volunteers should come dressed appropriately. Donations of paint brushes and paint will be gratefully accepted. We have been invited to have lunch with the residents at 12.30.
To take advantage of your chance to make a difference in our community be sure to RSVP to email@example.com as soon as possible.
For 45 years, Democrats Abroad has been a home-away-from-home for the voices and votes of the millions of U.S. citizens living overseas.
From humble beginnings in London and Paris, we’ve grown into a truly global organization — with members in more than 150 countries, voting in every state in the union.
Join Democrats Abroad around the world — from Sao Paulo to Hong Kong — to celebrate 45 years of going the distance for our Democratic Party.

Democrats Abroad Sweden had a voter registration event in Stockholm this week. It was just one of their many voter registration events and fundraising activities.
Black Expats realize the importance of voting absentee ballot. I was happy to meet several others who are proud to exercise their right to vote.
Go to Vote From Abroad today(!) to request your absentee ballot.
My absentee ballot for the DC Democratic Delegation arrived in the mail today. Yipee!
If you are an American living overseas have you requested your absentee ballot for November?
If you don’t receive one in the worst case scenario, you can use a Federal Write In Ballot that you can download, print out, fill out, and mail in.
Visit Vote From Abroad for more information.
Have you shared the Vote From Abroad video with your American friends overseas?
Anyone in the Munich-area, that would like to hop on the “Obama Express” bus to Berlin, who has not already reserved a seat, should send an e-mail post-haste to:
dag-munich (at) democratsabroad.org.
The bus is open to eyeryone, not just DA members or US citizens (although the more of those the better).
We will be leaving Munich sometime on July 23rd (as early as possible) and returning very late on the 24th.
These dates are now jour fixe!
