A Weekend of Wellness: Relax, Relate, Release!

  • Bore PlaceBore Place RdChiddingstone Kent TN8 7ARUK

Join the OYA team for a weekend away at Bore Place, 500 acres of beautiful fully organic farmland near Sevenoaks in Kent. The retreat will include yoga, mindfulness, activities, vegan meals as well as leisure for exploring, resting and relaxing.

Theme

During the summer months we are often most willing to slow down and take things in. At this retreat, we will provide a space for you to do just that. This retreat is for Black women and women of colour.

In the presence of sisterhood, you will have the opportunity to move and to be still, to read, write and sing, to talk and to listen. This weekend is perfect for you if you desire a short weekend getaway, at which you can enjoy a slower pace and dedicated time for simply getting back to you.

The exact retreat schedule is subject to change and will be released to registered guests closer to the date.

Talks and Treatments

There will be a number of talks and treatments on offer over the course of the weekend. We will update the website with details shortly.

NEW ::: Grounded Movement taught by Shiggi! It’s a free-form movement conversation between our “selves”, our bodies, our nature and each other. Shiggi has taken a fusion of African rooted martial arts – Capoeira, the easily accessible teachings of French created MovNat, alongside her own influences from living and growing up in Kenya to create the Kusongea workshop accessible and nurturing to all who attend.

NEW ::: Kemetic yoga taught by Amani! Egyptian yoga originates from Ancient Kemet, now known as Egypt. It is a restorative system which has unique postures and principles. It combines physical movement, deep breathing and meditation to help achieve balance, peace, order and discipline which is known as Maat.

NEW ::: Reiki treatments with Jaha Browne. She will be offering 25-minute Reiki sessions using crystals and a Tibetan singing bowl to realign your chakras and promote healing.

Treatments will range from deep-tissue massage to Reiki. In the registration form you can indicate if you would like to book a treatment, so that our therapists can be in touch with you directly. Treatment costs are not included in the retreat package price.

Accommodations

Single, twin, and triple occupancy available. Each room is simply decorated. There are shared bath- and shower rooms throughout. One set of bedding and sheets are provided.

Meals

The retreat is fully-catered with vegan and wheat-free delights. On Friday evening a light dinner will be served. On Saturday and Sunday mornings breakfast will be offered after the meditation session. On Saturday, a filling and warm lunch will be served and a light and healthy dinner. On Sunday, guests will receive a light lunch before departing for their journey home.

Recalling the Elements: Fire & Wind

Join Nikita, Shiggi and Stacie for their first weekend yoga and mindfulness retreat together at Poundon House, a beautifully exclusive house and grounds located just 60 miles northwest of London. The retreat will include yoga, mindfulness, movement, vegetarian meals, as well as free time to explore the area, swim, rest, read, and relax.

Theme

The elements are expressive and reflected in our own moods. We move between emotions of hot and cold, happy and angry, sometimes without even recognising or understanding why. At this weekend retreat we will explore the seemingly opposite poles that both fire and wind represent and how, in conversation with one another, transformation becomes possible.

On the one hand, fire is irreplaceable in its warming capabilities, for example of food or the body, and it can even illuminate one’s path. If untamed, however, it can burn and scorch everything in its way. Similarly, wind offers us a cooling system and can provide the energy we need to power up. At high speeds, however, wind becomes an indestructible force bringing chaos to anything it touches. This retreat will benefit anyone looking to find balance in the midst of the world’s extremes.

The body is the only true home that we will ever have, so it’s important that it be nourished and cherished. Over the course of the weekend, guests will be led in movement and mindfulness practice to do exactly that. Grounded movement and powerful Hatha flow sessions that invigorate will be balanced with soothing mindfulness exercises to leave guests feeling rejuvenated.

The retreat schedule is subject to change and will be released to registered guests closer to the date. Please have a look at our example schedule here.

Meals

The retreat is fully catered with dairy- and wheat-free vegetarian cuisine. On Friday evening a light dinner will be served. Saturday and Sunday morning, a warm broth will be offered before the movement session, and breakfast after the movement session. On Saturday, a filling and warm lunch will be served and a light and healthy dinner. On Sunday, guests will receive a boxed lunch, if they desire to take something with them on their journey home.
